introduction
welcome to the darker! this is a screen saver for windows.
i wrote it for my personal use while working on my computer
science diploma thesis. but i liked it very much and
decided to release it to the public.
the darker screen saver reduces the brightness of
the screen by 40 to 80%, a simple, cool, and elegant way to
protect the monitor.
freeware without nag-screens and annoying messages.

hard- and software requirements
'darker.scr' and the other files together need less than 160kb of hard disk space.
windows 95/98/me/xp, windows nt 4.0, windows 2000, or better is required.
installation
1. copy the 'darker.scr' file into your 'windows/system' directory.
2. open the 'settings/control panel/display' dialog.
3. choose the 'screen saver' tab.
4. select 'darker' from the screen saver list.

distribution
the software may be freely distributed provided that it is
not modified and the original archive remains intact with
